Wi-Fi 7 from Zero

Go from no Wi-Fi knowledge to reading the 802.11 standard, analysing sniffer traces and reasoning about what really works in shipping products.

What you'll learn

  • Read and navigate the IEEE 802.11 standard without getting lost in it
  • Tell the 30% that is practically irrelevant from what chipsets actually implement
  • Analyse sniffer traces to diagnose real interoperability and performance problems
  • Explain Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) features at a system level, not just by name
  • Understand the roles of IEEE, Wi-Fi Alliance, FCC and ETSI, and why they differ
  • Apply MAC, PHY and security concepts to decisions in a real Wi-Fi product

Description

About 30% of the 802.11 standard is practically irrelevant - it is either not widely supported by chipsets or is undermined by interoperability issues. Knowing which parts those are is most of what separates someone who has read the standard from someone who can build with it. This course is curated from feedback across 200+ participants and assumes only basic networking knowledge.
